We have read this before!

After reading the first three chapters of Will Richardson's book, I feel it is the same message in a different book. He wrote "students are "out there" using a wide variety of technologies that they are told they can't use when they come to school." He points out that the Web has the potential to radically change what we assume about teaching and learning. So true, how will we spread the word to our fellow teachers??? This is another tool we can offer our learners. Now to figure out a good way to implement it.

  1. Blogging seems like a cool tool to use in school (can you tell I tell kindergarten?!). However, I am not convinced that the young learners we work with would benefit from it. I know my class of kindergarteners would require more assistance then I could spare! I am thinking of using it later in the year to blog a unit of study, but again "why?".

  2. I agree that technologies are and can be wonderful tools in the classroom. I am sure a lot of the fear and lack of using the web is liability! Monitoring and managing who students talk to and what they see seems like an enormous task.

  3. I agree with what Beth and Keara are saying, you don't want to use the new technology simply for the sake of using it. It would also be hard to monitor. Maybe starting a class blog or one that parents could access would be a good way to start?
